Millennium Square Work Party

Come along and help us plant our autumn crops in the gardens at Millennium Square, as well as clear and tidy the gardens.

The gardens have struggled in the heat this year and one of the most important jobs over winter will be mulching the beds to support the soils recovery and we will begin this work during this work party!! So if you want to learn more about soil and how to keep it healthy, come along and learn all about it!

Urban Food Trail Work Party

Join us as we wander the Urban Food trail, tending the gardens as we go. Jobs will include digging up artichokes, pruning a tree and seed collecting amongst others!!

We will post to Facebook and Twitter with times for specific gardens closer to the time but it’s likely to look like

10-11 at 100 Temple Street

11-12 at Chattertons House Garden.

Millennium Square Work Party

Why not join us at the Millennium Square gardens to continue with the work we began last week in the bee garden?

We will continue to clear the bed and then direct sow some seeds for early flowering next spring and early summer.

Millennium Square Work Party

Come and joints as we work on the gardens in Millennium Square, and help us to clear and tidy the bee and pollinator bed, which has struggled with the high temperatures. We’ll be doing some replanting and sowing of seeds for early flowering next year, as well as adding green manures which will support the soil over winter.

Severn Beach Line Work Party

Join us for our regular work party on the Severn Beach Line, where we will be watering and looking after the beds along the line. We’ll be focusing on bed clearances and watering, starting at Temple Meads and hopping on and off the train at stations along the line.

Millennium Square Work Party

The gardens in Millennium Square have struggled in the heatwave, but there is still plenty to get on with and this session will see us concentrating on the herb and soft fruit bed. we”l be clearing a lot of overgrown plants and weeds, thoroughly watering the whole bed, and making a plan for what we need to replant once the weather breaks.

Why not come along and join us? There will also be lentil harvesting and other work to do so plenty to get on with.

Urban Food Trail Work Party

This work party will concentrate on the beds around Temple Meads Station. we’ll be removing soil from the Wicking Bed outside the Engine Shed, moving it up to the 2 boxes outside the main station, and replanting those raised beds with some beautiful, colourful plants!

Why not join us as many hands make light work!!

We’ll be on site between 10 and 2 but join us at any point in between those times as there is plenty to do.

Urban Food Trail Tour for the Get Growing Trail

Join our founder and project lead Sara Venn for a tour of the Urban Food Trail. Starting at the gardens in Millennium Square, we will meander along the trail, stopping off at all the gardens along the way. From small boxes to an entire park, the urban food trail shows how edible landscaping could change the face of cities in a very subtle and yet meaningful way, supporting communities and food sovreignty along the way.

This tour is a part of the Get Growing Trail, led by the Bristol Food Network

Urban Food Trail Tour

As part of Bristol Walking Festival we are running a tour of our Urban Food Trail, which will begin at 11.30 in Millennium Square and finish approximately an hour later at Temple Meads. We will visit all the gardens along the trail and there will be opportunity to ask questions as we go.
