Creating Beautiful, Productive Fruit Gardens Workshop

Come along and join us to learn about making beautiful and productive spaces using fruit and herbs as your planting pallet.

We will look at how to prepare your soil, options for plants depending on the aspect of your growing space and focus on good design to ensure you get best production in a beautiful space. We will also look at making a riased strawberry bed, and how different techniques can work in a space to give maximum growing potential alongside visual interest!

We will provide tea and coffe but please do bring your own lunch!

Cob Pizza Oven Weekend Workshop

Our workshop facilitator, Luke, will guide participants through the different stages of making a cob based pizza oven from beginning to end.

The weekend will consist of learning through the actions of actually making a pizza oven on site at the garden at Hartcliffe City Farm, and is a great intoduction to practicalities behind making these amazing ovens. Whether you want the experience to support an oven in your garden or within a community space, you’ll learn all you need to know to be able to share those skills yourselves.

The cost of the workshop includes all materials, tools etc, along with tea, coffee and snacks, but bring your own lunch! If you have any questions about the course please feel free to email info@ediblebristol.org.uk and we will do our best to answer them for you!

Making Raised Beds from Pallets Workshop

This great course will be a practical, hands on learning experience, making raised beds in The Secret Garden at Avonmouth Station.

The workshop will include how to choose the perfect pallet, how to ensure your beds are safe and sturdy, where to source your pallets from as well as some practical work around the best uses of raised beds in gardens, allotments and in the public realm. At the same time the group will make a large raised bed that will be left on site for the Avonmouth community to use.

Because we want you to get the best experience possible, this workshop has limited numbers so do get your tickets before they are all gone!!

Using Willow In The Garden

Come along and learn lots about how to use willow in the garden. We will be concentrating on fedging,( willow hedges) but our workshop leader, Luke, will also talk about all the other varied and exciting things you can do with willow, from making plant supports to building structures! We’ll discuss using live willow, how to keep it under control and what a great addition it is to any garden or growing space, large or small.

Success with Seeds

Our Sara Venn will be running this course at Hartcliffe City Farm where she will share her horticultural knowledge of seed sowing, potting on and keeping small plants alive, ensuring the become productive. Pest and diseases, timings and good practice will all recovered along to what to do if things go wrong.

Not only will you learn loads about seed sowing, but you’ll also have the opportunity to sow a variety of seeds to take home with you.

Building Compost Bins From Pallets workshop!!

This year we will be running a series of workshops, courses and talks, mainly at Hartcliffe City Farm, for you to come along and learn from experts  about their specialisms. Some of these will be very practical and hands on and some will be more theoretical.

The first of these is on 4th February at Hartcliffe City Farm, where we will be running a very practical workshop teaching all aspects of compost bay building from pallets. We will cover clearing your site, which are the best pallets to use and which to steer clear of, as well as giving advise on composting and different ways to achieve the best compost for your garden.

Halloween Forest Adventures at the Quakers Burial Ground!!

On 25th October we will be holding our first event for young people aged 8-11. Facilitated by our qualified outdoor learning professionals, the afternoon will be one of discovery, where skills and secrets will be learnt together. Focusing on Halloween and the autumn need to prepare our gardens for wildlife and for the year ahead, the afternoon will be an introduction to incredible edible for the young people you know!
