Over the last two days of March we ran two workshops, led by James Bridges, teaching people to make sturdy raised beds and put them into place and plant them. On this occasion the planters were going onto Platform 3 at Temple Meads station and on the path that leads up to the station entrance.
This marks the beginning of our Urban Food Growing Trail – a trail of gardens leading from Temple Meads to Millennium Square and the FOOD exhibition at At Bristol, which will see as many food growing spaces as we can fit in along Redcliffe Way and through Queen Square leading into Millennium Square and our beds by the Planetarium. See the first draft of our trail map here.
These beds have been filled with fruit and herbs for people to help themselves to once they are ready to harvest! A quick, healthy snack for the journey home or some herbs to add to supper! All of the beds created by Incredible Edible Bristol are for people to harvest and to enjoy the fresh produce from them. Our biggest challenge this year is to persuade people this is the purpose of these beds and we look forward to hearing from you about what you have used the produce for.
Here are some photos of the workshops and the beds in place. If you would like to get involved in any way, either with workshops, joining a group or setting up your own project, please get in touch as we would love to help.
