Welcome To Cultivation Place!

Pumpkins at Cultivation Place

Over the last couple of years we have been creating a space for learning at Speedwell Allotments. Cultivation Place will be home, in 2022, to a whole host of events that will support individuals and communities to grow more food, more pollinator friendly planting and also to look at gardening as a response to both climate and biodiversity crises. All our workshops and courses will be run by people who are experts in their fields, with our primary tutor being our founder, Sara Venn.

We also hope to run some events where we can bring people together for discussions that will create real change across the city and bring together networks to offer support and opportunity to all involved in community gardening across the city.

We will release the courses for next year in January, but in the meantime we will be running our How To Grow course one last time for 2021, beginning on October 2nd-the details are in the link below!

And watch out for our autumn/winter talks which will begin soon.

Incredible Learning Zone Work Party at Speedwell Allotments

Our learning zone is going from strength to strength thanks to all the amazing volunteers who have helped us to clear and tidy the space.

During this work party we’ll be preparing the space we are going to use for our polytunnel and organise our compost heaps.

We would love to see as many people as possible at this work party, so we can fly through the work and start to really plan the building of the polytunnel. The postcode of the site is BS5 7TR.

Hartcliffe City Farm Work Party

Come join us at our regular Friday work party at Hartcliffe City Farm, where amongst other things, we’ll be potting on plants, sowing seeds and hopefully doing some strimming.

Why not join us for an hour or two and spend some time at this great city farm, right on the edge of the Sundry Slopes?

Everyone is more than welcome, but under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Cob Pizza Oven Weekend Workshop

Our workshop facilitator, Luke, will guide participants through the different stages of making a cob based pizza oven from beginning to end.

The weekend will consist of learning through the actions of actually making a pizza oven on site at the garden at Hartcliffe City Farm, and is a great intoduction to practicalities behind making these amazing ovens. Whether you want the experience to support an oven in your garden or within a community space, you’ll learn all you need to know to be able to share those skills yourselves.

The cost of the workshop includes all materials, tools etc, along with tea, coffee and snacks, but bring your own lunch! If you have any questions about the course please feel free to email info@ediblebristolorguk.wpcomstaging.com and we will do our best to answer them for you!
